Relax & Restore
relax & restore
“Most of us need to be given permission to switch from the doing to the being mode, mostly because we have been conditioned since we were little to value doing over being.’
– John Kabat-Zinn
In our modern fast-paced lifestyles, we often don’t hear our body asking for rest until we have become ill. Stress is the #1 cause of illness. Many of us are living in a state of chronic stress and adrenal fatigue, which is not healthy. Common symptoms of chronic stress include: Headaches, trouble sleeping, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, infertility, digestive issues, exhaustion and more. Restorative yoga can address these symptoms and improve your quality of life.
Restorative yoga allows for deeper relaxation, the organs to replenish and the nervous system to regulate more effectively. Restorative yoga uses props such as blankets, bolsters and blocks to fully support your body so it can rest into a nourishing shape and target specific issues without any effort. Restorative postures are relaxed into for anywhere from 3-10 minutes each, allowing for deep rest.

Restorative yoga for peri-menopause and menopause
It is said that when our cycles stop, the sacred wisdom held in our blood is contained within us. As wisdom-keeper, it is a time to celebrate your achievements, resilience, and bringing your nurturing energy towards yourself. Honor your inner authority, share your stories and wisdom with others.
It is also a time to give yourself the time and space you need to reclaim your power at this new stage of life. Transitions are challenging, as it is normal to feel grief, sadness or anxiety during this time. Not only is your body changing, but your mind and emotions too. Restorative yoga is a very slow-paced practice where your dreaming mind becomes more active, helping you to process all of the changes taking place in body, mind and heart. Restorative yoga can help to reduce hot flashes, anxiety and irritability while improving sleep and helping to balance hormones.
We will assess your needs and come up with a realistic sequence you can do at home to help you relax and find greater balance in your life. Healing tools I may incorporate into our restorative yoga sessions are: Mindful movement, sound healing, aromatherapy or oracle reading to suit your needs.
